About

Salaam alaikum and welcome to Learn Rohingya, the best place to learn more about the Rohingya language. LearnRohingya.com is a non-profit website, based on input from many.

We are committed to serving the Rohingya community through language research and development of language resources.

At LearnRohingya.com, our main goal is to provide language insights and tools for both expats, who interact with the Rohingyas, and native speakers, who seek to gain insight and understanding of their own mother-tongue.

Our analysis of the Rohingya language is a work in progress, and there are still many aspects of the language we need to study in more detail, but per request, we have decided to launch this website earlier than intended. This means that you can expect addition, revisions and updates to this website.

The major contributors to LearnRohingya.com are  “J. Largin” and “O. Erden.”  Both have Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and are trained to work with unwritten and undocumented languages. J. Largin also holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science.

Largin and Erden started their work on the Rohingya language in 2011, when they were contacted by colleagues who expressed that there was a big need for language development work among the Rohingya. Since then they have studied and analyzed the language, with the goal of developing an alphabet, publishing a full grammar of the Rohingya language, and later producing literacy primers.

It has been a privilege to study the Rohingya language. We hope that our language analysis will inspire and enable further development of Rohingya literacy materials and literature.Largin and Erden

This website would not have been possible without the help of many, who contributed with language data and linguistic insights. Thank you!

We trust and hope that LearnRohingya.com will become a valuable language guide and resource for many.

Sincerely,

The Learn Rohingya Team.
